If organizations carry out operations on sites that are not owned by them for limited periods of time, the verifier will monitor the organization's management system and its environmental performance on selected temporary sites that are representative of the organization's environmental management capacity.
The verifier must use good audit practices and sampling techniques to verify the effectiveness of the procedures on the selected sites.

The organization must demonstrate that the procedures and technologies adopted are in place, suitable for the specific sites in which it operates temporarily.

Where applicable, these procedures must include at least the following elements:

• appropriate technology and training;
• correct environmental analysis of the sites before the start of the activity;
• analysis of the environmental consequences linked to future planned activities;
• information of the resident population in the area and to the local authorities on the important environmental aspects associated with the work plan and related identified solutions;
• formulation of recovery plans or solutions to improve the environmental conditions of the area at the end of the operations.

Temporary sites will be part of the verification process based on random checks (spot-checking). Their activities and not only their location are in fact registered.
