In summary, the Park Authority develops its Environmental Management System (EMS) and involves the improvement of the interested parties through the mechanism of Qualification of Environmental Quality Suppliers.

This, in addition to ensuring environmental improvement, allows the dissemination of knowledge on these issues, sensitivity and awareness, creating the best conditions for each individual to be motivated to go beyond the qualification offered by the Park and develop its own management system by submit to EMAS certification or registration or apply the principles of or, in the case of Municipalities, start a Local Agenda 21 process and so on.
The ISO 14001 standard takes communication, as a fundamental element, into consideration, and provides for it to be distinguished in various forms:

  • internal (between different levels and functions);
  • from inside to outside (concerning significant environmental aspects);
  • from outside to inside (receiving, documenting and responding to requests).

It is obvious that communication activities are the basis for the creation and functioning of the Forum.

The essential elements described in the Guideline for applying the Environmental Management System according to UNI EN ISO 14001 in the protected areas are the following:

  • the ecological environmental analysis must take into consideration the protected area identifying the sensitive and vulnerable natural elements and evaluating the quality status of habitats and ecosystems;
  • the socio-economic environmental analysis must take into consideration both the park and its neighboring area to the extent that outside the boundaries there may be activities that generate impacts that fall within the protected territory;
  • interventions aimed at improvement must directly concern the Park Organization, but
  • they must also cover the activities present in the territory starting with those that have the greatest impact on the most sensitive and vulnerable environmental values;
  • the improvement is achieved with the involvement of the "Interested Parties" and the definition of the qualification criteria for the "environmental quality suppliers" by the Forum;
  • the Forum is a technical panel to establish the qualification requirements and promote the improvement of the environmental performance of each production chain in application of art.14 of Law 394/91. It serves to identify "what" everyone can do to improve the environmental quality of the Park.
