Increase the value of your business with EMAS and ISO14001

A question has often been asked by the operators: what are the reasons why should my company have environmental certification (ISO14001) and / or European EMAS registration?
However simple it may appear to be in itself, this question instead reflects the very soul of the problem itself.
Leaving aside the ethical aspects and principles that dwell in each of us, a hasty analysis and inattentive points encounter between environment and company may appear far away, the relative interests very often in contrast. Furthermore the environmental certification is a voluntary choice of the company not imposed by any law.

So why address an ISO14001 environmental certification and / or EMAS registration?
Without wishing now to dwell too much on the specific reasons why a company benefits from environmental certification, the data that emerge every day at international level are those of a continuous growth of certified companies.
In Italy, in some sectors environmental certifications offer particular benefits both in terms of participation in tenders or tenders, and in terms of authorizations: for example, the AIA (Integrated Environmental Authorization), generally with a validity of 10 years, sees a high level of its duration at 12 years in the presence of ISO 14001 certification and at age 16 in the presence of EMAS registration.

This highlights the recognition at the state level of the benefits of an environmental certification and the consequent importance assumed by companies for a certification which, while remaining a voluntary instrument, becomes an important lever for the entrepreneur to guarantee regulatory compliance. Certifications thus become a strategic asset depending on the company's business.

But this importance does not lie only in the adoption of an environmental management system and an environmental policy aimed at improving business processes and increasing environmental protection.

Be ISO14001 certified or EMAS registered means being more competitive both nationally and internationally, means having a passport indispensable for being able to establish commercial relationships or partnerships with other companies, especially foreign ones.

ISO14001 certification or EMAS registration is a guarantee , both for the customer and the business partner.
It is at this point that Even important companies have struggled with their international business due to the fact that they are not yet "ISO14001 certified".

Today we are witnessing the occurrence of the reverse phenomenon: businesses, service activities, the same local communities, look with growing interest at environmental certification .
Da this sudden passage, due in many cases more to external contingencies than to a gradual absorption of the intrinsic importance and meaning of environmental certification, one cannot help but notice some practical consequences deriving from it.

On the one hand, the search by the operators to obtain environmental certification immediately, without often having clear the phases involved.
On the other hand, more and more attention is being paid by the relevant authorities, also considering the value that the environmental certification has in the market.

From all this comes the importance of a prudent choice of the consultancy , from which the company can search support not only for achieving certification, but also for the correct assistance that help it absorb its contents and values in its business processes: why if that it doesn't happen, not only can it be a vain investment but yes may incur the risk of losing the certification, with obvious damage to the company (image and economic).

Environmental certification requires a work of analysis that varies according to the context and sector in which the company operates.
The commitment for the implementation of the environmental management system in a large industrial site is clearly different from that needed in a few company employees, or for a production company and one of services.

But beware, it is not so much for the size or the number of employees, but for the context (for example with high environmental impact) in which the organization operates.
A company equipped, for example, with an internal structure dedicated to environmental protection or quality, will most likely be able to perform some of its activities on its own (eg preparation of the initial environmental analysis, context analysis, Environmental Declaration, etc. ) necessary to the Management System, vice versa it will have to resort to the support of external professionals.
