RIO declaration on Environment and Development
(27 principles on the rights, obligations and responsibilities of States towards the environment)
B- Climate Change Convention
(signed by 153 countries, provides for the stabilization of "greenhouse gases" and the development and publication of the national inventory of anthropogenic emissions)
C- Biodiversity Convention
(signed by 153 countries, it provides for the countries of origin the right to compensation for products developed from their own genetic resources and for the related patents)
D- AGENDA 21
(900 page document, constitutes the global environmental action plan for the 21st century.
It covers every aspect: from the environmental impact assessment to the role of the social partners in sustainable development, to the financial mechanisms for technological transfer)
E- Declaration on Forests
(strongly wanted by the USA, it constitutes the basic document on which to draw up a future convention)
